So I left off DYT for a while and went back to Sci/art (seasonal color analysis) again. Something amazing happened.
I’ve had trouble with seasonal color for quite a long time now. I see certain things my skin is doing in different colors, but getting help from the online community on Facebook just hasn’t been working out for me.
Over several years, I’ve really narrowed down what qualities in colors DON’T work on me. People look at me and devolve back to the old four season system, I think. “Oh, dark hair and eyes, light skin! You must be a Winter, or one of the Darks! Try Dark Autumn or Dark Winter!”
Wrong! Darks totally overwhelm my complexion and features.
Eyes are dark hazel, sometimes brown, or gray, or even dark green. Looks like the eyes are Autumn. Try something Autumn.
Wrooong. Autumn anything contains lots of muddy browns. Should look good, but anything muddy brown looks exactly like that. Mud and dirt on the face.
The skin is tricky. Are you warm-leaning or cool-leaning? Looks yellow, so warm. But skin is porcelain…so cool.
Warm is better. Cool takes too much work. The right season should be able to apply the most minimal amount of makeup and look natural and convincing.
But still…that contrast! If not Dark, it must be Bright. We’re running out of options here, so get some Bright Spring makeup. It’ll be perfect.
Wrong again! Bright is so awful it’s not even funny. Everything is totally overwhelmed. It’s clearly far too harsh.
Hmmn. Well, it can’t be a Light season, because you don’t look light. So it must be a True season.
Laughable and again so wrong. Clearly this skin is neutral; it could never be True anything.
But wait…all that leaves is the Lights, and since cool is difficult but warm isn’t-
You CAN’T be a Light Spring! YOU DON’T LOOK LIGHT!
The proof is in the pudding, though. I bought a LSp blush (Covergirl rose silk) and four different LSp lip recs. All of them are at worst quite good. At best they are fabulous!
I’ve never in my life looked so good with so little makeup on my face! Light Spring is absolutely effortless on me. Everything about it is perfect. Everything.
Not only that, but I’ve finally realized I’m a primary Type 1 in DYT with a strong secondary 2!
Everything is totally falling into place at long last!
